NAC Kids Get a Little Back to School Help From Their Friends...

The beginning of the school year is always an exciting time of year for school-aged children and NAC kids are no exception. Last month, NAC’s Junior Benefit Committee along with our friends at Everyday Health kicked off with a Back-to-School Drive to benefit NAC kids. Nearly 800 children at NAC received notebooks, backpacks, rulers, pencil cases, protractors and compasses, boxes of crayons, markers, pens, pencils, erasers, and all the back to school staples they need to be ready for the first day of school.
The NAC Junior Benefit Committee is a group of young professionals from the greater New York City area who want to have a positive impact on the lives of children with special medical needs and disabilities. Members of the committee held collections at their offices, apartment buildings, and utilized social media to collect supplies for hundreds of NAC kids. Just by referring their contacts to NAC’s Amazon.com Wishlist led to an astonishing 300+ back-to-school items being donated and sent directly to the agency.
Everyday Health, a website that provides health information, was a huge contributor to the Drive. Everyday Health held an in-office competition to see which department could collect the most school supplies for NAC kids. Throughout August, staff members from Everyday Health contributed over 700 back to school items. Additionally, several enthusiastic Everyday Health volunteers were on hand for the school supply give-away to organize and distribute supplies to NAC kids at our offices on 26th Street.

Everyday Health's amazing volunteers were a huge help during the Back-to-School Drive.
“The drive was a great success! We were able to collect a lot of supplies and all the kids had a wonderful time!"

On behalf of the all the NAC children who are now prepared for the upcoming school year, we’d like to extend a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the Junior Committee members and our volunteers from Everyday Health who made the School Supply Drive and giveaway a huge success.
