Summer Fun for NAC Kids

Mural painting at the Polo Grounds.
Summer vacation is a time meant for fun, spending time with friends, and enjoying the sunshine and warm weather. However, NAC's inner-city children and youth don’t always have access to opportunities for summer fun. Luckily, NAC’s Recreation Department always has them covered.
Fun and recreation are important for every child to experience, and is especially true for the children NAC serves. Many NAC children rely on wheelchairs or have other physical disabilities that require special arrangements. Often, children with disabilities wind up spending the majority of their summer break inside stuffy apartments, with few options for socializing with their peers. Additionally, youth programs frequently cannot accommodate kids with special needs, and if they do, NAC kids face the challenge of actually getting there in order to participate.
NAC solves many of the transportation issues faced by our kids with our fleet of wheelchair accessible vans, and our experienced Recreation Staff design activities that are completely inclusive – ensuring that children of all abilities, backgrounds, and cultures have the opportunity to experience the rich, exciting summer that every kid deserves.

“If it wasn't for NAC, I don't know what I'd be doing during my summer vacation -- I'd probably just stay home." - Rodney, a NAC kid who experienced his first baseball game this summer.
